It's Hoppy!!!

I'm making my christmas wish lists. (Yes, I said Christmas and Lists.) And I realized that I have a lot more moody music than anything, which I think is a bit odd when you consider the kind of music that I really like to listen to. So...I need some Hoppy Music suggestions. Hoppy = happy music that you can hop, skip and twirl too. The best example that I can come up with is The White Stripes. So please, suggest, SUGGEST, whisper in my ear, send me a myspace page link. Please!

Currently on the list: Best of David Bowie, "Love Actually" soundtrack, The Donnas, The Beatles and U2.

BTW, I love the nod to the movie in this Buffy quote.

I Like to Be Prepared

Colleen says:
I just thought "CRAP! I haven't started my Christmas Lists yet!"

Sarah Smile says:
Hee.

Colleen says:
And then I remembered that it's March and Christmas is three months BEHIND me.

Sarah Smile says:
Yeah, Colsy. Sheesh. You've ONLY GOT, like NINE MORE MONTHS.

Colleen says:
Last year I waited until August to start them.

Sarah Smile says:
Slacker.
Hee.

Colleen says:
But technically speaking...I've been keeping lists on Amazon

Mutiny on the Mistletoe

My skin is a-leaking! Technically, my eyes. Holiday allergies have run amuck! AMUCK! So lets cheer us up by listing off Col's favorite Christmas movies!
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas: a pathetic Christmas tree, a sad song and annoying friends and relatives. What could be better?
  • The Grinch: a green guy steals presents from the fairie folk and then ends up slicing everyone turkey.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas: it's Halloween and Christmas mixed into one!
  • A Christmas Story: annoying little brother, bullies, bunny suit, dead duck, turkey eating dogs, a dag who could fix everything, a leg lamp-jealous mother. But best of all is that it usually runs 24 hrs on Christmas and you still end up watching it about five times that day 'just because.'
  • White Christmas: random songs, patriotic-fatherly love, comraderie, annoying partner who will never let you forget how he saved your life, and a really fast foot tapper.

Expected? Typical? But I think Christmas should always be classic. The only thing missing are pirates.

Behind Every Door

One of my favorite seasonal treats as a child was an advent calendar. What can I say? I'm a chocolate fiend! Well, I found a much more healthier one online!

Speculations in the Sleet

  • The ice and snow are holding off until tonight, which gives me extra time to run around. For what? I'm not telling you anything other than it's VERY VERY important.
  • Instead of getting worried when Howl and Sophie paw or chase each other, we kinda stand there, watch, then giggle.
  • I'm considering allowing Howl to help me finish my ink wash drawing.
  • Is it really hard painting your cat?
  • A drawer full of hot chocolate packets and bendy straws is a wonderful thing!
  • At least the inside of my purse smells like feet and not butts!

The Last Weekend of Hedonism

The last 72 hours have brought me many things. Some pleasant, some odd, and some sneezes.
  • considering buying a helmet
  • it's been too long between deep cleanings
  • counter space is a wonderful thing
  • I hope this is just a 24 hour bug and not the flu
  • Chistmas is nigh
  • realizing that I need people to bake more
  • there are far too many sugar-deprived people out there
  • coming to accept that no one will finish a pan of Igor bars
  • driving from here to Fort Smith should not be that difficult
  • monkeys are fun and cute
  • I want a 'For Dummies' library and I truly believe that I will be the smarter person for it

Watching this video really makes me want to request window-attachable bird feeders for Christmas. I really think I'll be a better cat owner for it. ;)

    I *heart* Excel

Not that one. (But remember, it can only be wisely used for evil.) I started using Excel today to make lists for Christmas and Halloween. You don't think it would be worth it? Ha! I have at least four worksheets going in each - and that's just with information off of the top of my head. I have a ton of lists in different places, but discovered that Excel could really help me put them all together. Oh, and they have christmas accessories and hardware for computers. I'm just sayin'.

    This Year's Girl

This all happened a year ago on Christmas Eve Eve. Original in black, my comments in blue. My Predictions for 2005 Lame Title. I will get trade in my beloved van for a Jetta. Didn't happen. Instead Glenn's car committed hare care. G & I will scope out places to live. Kinda been happening. We will have a blast on our birthdays. Glenn had shingles and I ruined my surprise. Spring break will be fun!!! Skiing was surprisingly fun. G will finish his armor and it will look really cool. He just about had it finished when his character permed. People will want to feed me tiramisu. Joy did feed me pleasurable desserts. My Revolutions for 2005 Again, lame. To call resolutions revolutions. Cut my hair. Short! Now I'm trying to grow it out. I will see the ocean. Yes, and it was wonderful. Our 1 year wedding anniversary will be sweet. It was beautiful. Mostly because we left our cell phones at home. I will enjoy playing Anarchy more. ... I will have 2000+ hits on my blog...from other people! Er...yeah? My blog will look more apealing. Even if I have to put bananas on it! Yes, bananas not included. I will start making Christmas gifts during the summer. Attempted, didn't work out. I will sell something on ebay. Didn't happen. Be more generous with my time towards others, and know that it is still okay to have private time. *cringes when I think about September*

    Grave

I dislike it a lot how I have to keep flipping over at night b/c my arms keep falling asleep. I would just sleep on my back, but that leads to snoring, and some mystical elf wakes me up when I start snoring and that turns me into ANGRY COL!!! Although I have been referred to in the past as the Diet Coke of Evil, believe you me that I can be the Cherry Coke of Anger! Grrr Argh! *burps* Excuse me. The picture is just a cute forward. I mean...isn't it horrible? Grrr...look at all of that red. The red makes me so angry! Grrrr!

    Dear Whimsical Santa,

Dear Whimsical Santa, How are you? I hope your reindeer don't have colds. Could you send me the entire collection of every recording of 'The Rainbow Connection'? I love that song and would like to hear it by every artist that loves that song too. In exchange, I will bake you cookies and chocolate milk. Not many people realize that you are a chocoholic like myself, and I will gladly feed your addiction because I know it's what keeps you going all night long. Hershey kisses, Colleen

    Christmas Survey

:) 1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate for the rest of the year. I drown myself with egg nog but resist the urge to buy it as much as I can. 2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Sits them under the tree. It's your parent's job to wrap them and hide them from the dogs. 3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Colored lights. Espeically blue. I prefer non-blinking, although it's kind of cool if they are set to music. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? Haven't seen it yet at Wal-mart, when I do, it's MINE! 5. When do you put your decorations up? Whenever I get a house. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Excluding dessert? But..but...eggnog. 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? My Great Dane opening up my presents, which prompted my mom to hide the gifts in a closet until we opened them. All of the dogs got presents and had to open theirs. I think it was Bandit's favorite holiday. I just don't know why he wanted my cd's. They didn't smell like food. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I always knew. According to my family though there was one Christmas Eve when I would not let them start a fire because I cried and screamed that Santa would burn up. It was pretty cold too. 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Open from friends and relatives on Christmas Eve, open up from the family Christmas morning. Fall asleep before noon then chow down on leftovers. 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Chocolate chip, duh! They're my dads favorite...hey! 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it, hate driving in it. 12. Can you ice skate? Er..... I watch it a lot. Or, I used to. Michelle Kwan was robbed yo! 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? The cabbage patch dolls and the twin bunk beds my parents made for them. 14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? The food and home-made stuff. 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I have to pick just one?! 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Letting the dogs open up their own gifts. 17. What tops your tree? I don't have a tree. And I don't feel like giving a dirty answer here. 18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Giving the perfect gift. Receiving something unexpected. 19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol? It Came Upon A Midnight Clear 20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Yum, but too many.

    Why Would She Do That?

I'm making myself a nice cup of tea, working timidly on my NaNo novel (the gnomes are having a lazy spring day), the pixie stabbing my eye with a two inch needle has finally gone home to watch Oprah, and the temperature is steadily going down outside. Last night my Sims game revolted against me. Every time I saved the game it would shut down, unlike the previous day where it would just shut down. I guess it just wanted the night off. Therefore no pictures to post of virtual debauchery yet. Ikey and Gilly are still single, the new house is looking good ;) and I think Rezzie is about to get a job in music like Jonny. I'm striving for ideas for Christmas still. Today I forgot my gloves so typing is a bit strenuous, and my hair is complacent. Current daydream: pillow fight in a French hotel while waiting for breakfast to be served at the Eiffel Tower. Latest Discovery: that turtles love to paint.

Don't Be Surprised When I Tell You...

...that each blog I read, I consider a gem.
...that I don't have a clue about what I am going to write for NaNo this year.
...that I love the cold, blistery weather we are having.
...that I get upset when I see Christmas lights being put up, and there aren't any Halloween decorations to be seen. (Yes, even in my own home, but we are poor so BITE IT!)
...that I do love my husband's addiction to Anarchy Online. It means that he understands my addiction to the Sims.
...that I can be quite mean when I need to, but will probably cry about it as soon as you are gone.
...that for the first time ever, I coasted into a gas station today.
...that I need coaxing to read past the third book in the Chronicles of Narnia books.
...that I froze my butt off going camping this weekend.
...that I can easily devour a large pizza all by myself.
