Poser the Squirrel

He is such a poser. Someone saw me taking pictures of him and said that he let her take a picture of him last week. At least he didn't jump on me. Although I was ready to switch to video if he did.

He took a step towards me on that last picture. My friend squeaked and I nearly peed in my pants.

Ask the Readers...

  • Apparently there are a lot of people out there that name their animals after artists. Did you?
  • Do you have a favorite artist? One of mine is Albrecht Durer. Another is Edward Gorey. I'm all about the lines!
  • Have you ever gone to a museum that you wanted to stay in all day and night until you were the only one there? Did you ever want to spend eight hours just staring at one painting?
  • What's your favorite book? One of mine is "Violin" by Anne Rice. Another is "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin.

Does anyone have any beauty secrets out there? Like brushing your hair one hundred times per night, or only using Pond's cold cream, or eating lots of pasta? I've never kept any growing up, except shaving my arm pits.

When You Are Satisfied a.k.a. FUDGE MONKEY!!!

Winter has come early this year.
I didn't expect it so damn soon.
No wood for the fire and my axe is dull.

Talk to me of rainbows and puppies and violets.
The sun shines warm on dried grass and ivory fences.
Get up! Smile! Everything is just shiny.

  • licorice - it would grow like weeks in the cracks.
  • sequins - all sidewalks would be shiny and irridescent, you'll be walking with jazz hands in no time!

On the Adorability of Howl

The blow up mattress was rolled up and standing in the corner of the room as of 11am. By 11:30am it had slid and fell on the floor in an s-shape. Howl walks into the room and stops. His ears, eyes and whiskers focus intently on the black rubbery form in the corner of the room. He leans as close to is as possible without moving his backlegs. At one point...someone...picked up Howl and put him on top of the shape. Like a spring, Howl bounced from the object to the other side of the room. Where he continued to give all of his intention to this intruder. At one point, someone else puts him on top of his tent tower so that he can survey the mattress from on high. But, when he jumps off, his tower falls ONTO THE MATTRESS!!! SOMEONE SAVE HIS TOWER!!!

Finally, the mattress is picked up and put away in the closet. Howl sees this but does not believe it is gone. He continues to check out that spot for the next hour. Then, he starts asking for sympathy. He comes in and mews, asking for comfort. I pick him up and put him under the covers, where he sulks, then eventually comes to the top for a long nap. By that afternoon, his tent tower has taken the spot of the mattress, and he is still wary that it might have snuck into the lower platform. Like a good little soldier, he keeps a look out for the rest of the night before going back on it.
