Day Around Town

  • First, wake up by getting a massage from a purring kitty.
  • Loll about on the computer playing Sims.
  • Return library books.
  • Make an appointment at the raving hair cutters.
  • Attempt to get a car wash in the rain.
  • Realize that the carwash is closed.
  • Use their free vacuums while it starts to drip.
  • Dive into your car when you realize how much drippage has accumulated on your seats.
  • Drive around until you find yourself at the little Greek café.
  • Order something with lamb, grab a raspberry tea and call up your friend while you wait.
  • Your friend decides to join you at lunch then you wander off to the raving haircutter’s. And by raving I do not mean that he is mean or hateful. He just likes to talk. And it’s fun, unless you get easily to moderately offended. It was truly an experience. I did like it though when he bowed after cutting my hair.
  • Stretch your legs a bit by walking uphill to the Best! Used! Bookstore!
  • Get lost in there while looking, only to get a call from the friend you walked in there with. Consider it a cellular Marco Polo.
  • Next! Go to Wal-mart and purchase “Light Reddish Chestnut” hair dye. (NOTE: Next time get two bottles as you have lots of hair.)
  • Part ways with your friend and go home where you clean house! Why? BECAUSE YOU HAVE A NEW KITCHEN! YAY!!!
  • The perfect time has come to give your cats the new furry toy mousies. They will scamper, act surprised and get crazy playing with the new toys. (NOTE: Do not be surprised if you find the younger kitty attempting to retrieve the rest of the packaged mousies from the toy basket that you placed behind the couch and on the tallest shelf.)
  • Now you’re hungry. Proceed to Sonic where they will forget part of your order and give you coupons that amount to a free meal with ice cream. Yippee!!!
  • It’s late at night, and girls love to throw hair dye parties late at night. Halfway thru this dying, send your husband back to Wal-mart for another package of hair dye.
  • Congratulations! You look like a princess thanks to your friends terrific hair dying skills.
  • Collapse on the bed.

Light Reddish Chestnut. No Seriously, That's the Name on the Box.

Great minds think alike. And I thought it would be cool to be a redheaded, Irish lass on my birthday.

My Sense of Taste

If I tell you that I've redecorated and want you to come over to see the new digs - beware. I've been known to have the taste of a black and white movie set director. In theory, it looks great, but certain colors and patterns just should not be seen together. For example, one of the best houses I have ever seen (in the movies) was Pee Wee Herman's in PeeWee's Big Adventure. The front yard was a bit much. I prefer to have a nice layout with a good path to walk if I am to view a collection of lawn gnomes. Sometimes I wonder if that was how they decorated too. By texture and shadows, not by color. So, I took a still from the movie The Philedelphia Story. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting And I colored over it. Keep in mind that I need to hone my photoshop skills. But, wouldn't it be more interesting if houses really used color? Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Shimmy Fest 2006

The colors were vibrant, music inspiring and all around you heard the soft 'ching-ching-chinga' sounds of women walking around and picking up costumes to try them on. It started with a zaghareet and people were pulled out of the audience to dance with the ladies.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The audience was of all ages, including several children. Before I attended the event, I mentioned that I would be going to a bellydance workshop and I noticed several people got a strange look on their face. It seems that, at least in the rural south, there are still some negative connotations attached to bellydancers.

Women of all ages danced. There were Isis wings, flame dancers as well as the swords.

Sadly my pictures of the candle dancers didn't turn out so well, and from what we were told by the announcer...it was an especially good show, especially with all of the hairspray the dancers wore.

Several troops and dancers came to the event. Desert Fire, a local troop. My favorite dancer name still has to be Al'seea Al'soon. Very Arkansas.

Mirage from Russellville performed quite nicely as well.

The final performance was by Princess Farhana, straight out of Hollywood. (She told me later that she loved my kitty cat purse!)

I really wanted this outfit. This one would have been nice too. I just couldn't afford it...this month. Yes, yes, Glenn was sad. Although I am tempted to learn how to make my own costumes.

The Monster Bag

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Yes, that is one of my slippers next to the bag to give it perspective. It's huge!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I need to take a picture of the bag outside so that it doesn't look all green. I've gotten many compliments, snarky remarks, and looks. Some thought it was a mini skirt because from the side it does cover my bottom half. Strange guys ask me why I killed a sheep. Others have just said that they like it. I'm still considering whether or not to attach googly eyes to the side of the bag on the outside pocket.

My Pants Fit

  • One thousand minutes a month (plus rollover) could be used to talk to fifty of your closest peeps for twenty minutes each.
  • Every mailbox holds a destination for those postcards you've been holding onto.
  • Why did you get a four-door if not to make room for other people?

  • A lazy afternoon that you could have spent fingerpainting with the last bits of jelly from your pb&j sammich.
  • Left over scraps of material would make a perfect stuffed mummy bear for Halloween.

Insurance, you know, in case we get turned into our costumes again.

I'm on a mailing list for Halloween costumes. There are all sorts, but I've never thought of going as Twister. Maybe there is a twenty-sided dice costume out there. Better yet, why not go as a monster from one of the Munchking cards? Xander playing it safe for Halloween.

But you do get this lovely watch and a year's supply of Turtle Wax.

Yeah, I'm a total freak. AND I AM NOT ON CRACK! Yes, crack is bad. But I am still not on it!!! So, that last post got me window drooling on Amazon for sushi apparel. And that was when I spotted them. Sushi socks! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting And then I started to wonder, if Amazon has sushi clothes, why not turtle clothes? I could not help but find these turtle golashes utterly adorable. My Style!

A style meme according to Col:
  1. Everyday I dress so I look great in a black and white movie or picture!
  2. My hair has mood swings of it's own.
  3. I prefer my shoes to be comfortable rather than ohwatchhertrip!
  4. Mixing jewelry is not an art form so much as just enjoying what you have.
  5. If you wear black and white together then there has to be more than the other. Equilibrium does not exist when wearing these two colors together.
  6. The fashion that I craved when I was younger is just now coming into style.
  7. More little flowers should be grown for the sole purpose of being plucked and put into your hair.
  8. Bells! Bells! Bells!
  9. No style is out of date as long as you enjoy wearing it.
  10. There is no retro, there is only Buffy.

Passadena Anyone?

Lately I have been feeling like I need a good alcoholic drink to calm down. Not sure where this is coming from, unless some of my Irish roots are needing a good quenching. A change is coming over me and it's odd, yet comforting. Tastes in clothes, activities. At first I thought I might have been starting back down the road of depression, but how can that be when I notice how happy I am? I'll get moody before we go do something fun, then during the process I realize that I am having fun. Only children revolt! And my urge to buy out my happiness is also increasing. I spent a good portion of my time yesterday updating my amazon wish list and think I might but something off of it every month starting in February. And the best part? It won't be practical other than to preserve my own sanity. Having a cd player in your car is nice, although the gas can get expensive. I've noticed that I am slowing down, yet my thirst for running has increased. Am I really wanting to run somewhere or am I thinking that I need an ass-shrinking? Truthfully, I think I am about to skip my 30's and head straight into my 60's. I drink tea, watch a few of my favorite 'programs' at dinner, think that some girls are 'a little too young' to wear that, I drive real fast, have started calling people baaaaastards, then I drive real slow, and have started thinking that 'living in California wouldn't be so bad'. Maybe I just feel a need to finish. Although what it is, I have no idea. Mood: happy, hellbound

What's Up That Skirt?

A friend of mine is taking an expedition to England to research the Roman Soldier while he takes classes in Bristol. He needs a sponser and has since put up an e-bay auction here.

I am developing an Honors thesis project that is a mix of documentary material in film form and a composite website. Both will be focused on the compare and contrast of the British soldier in the Roman army and the Roman soldier in the Roman army. The film and website will exemplify these comparisons and contrasts. This will try to encompass the everyday life, military ranks, pay, and social standings. There will be some use of re-enactment, when possible. Both will also be a mix of scholarly interest and dramatic appeal, informational and entertaining.

I can't wait to see the 'use of re-enactment', but maybe some of you would like to participate? Especially those of you that will be this close to Bristol. Say, three hours close. And I just know that there will be a few of you that could drop on by. I could even give you a few key things to say to him while you are there. ;)
