I've heard the expression "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission." People have said it to me when they try to get me to do something I clearly don't want to do, and I have also had people repeatedly ask for forgiveness, and/or repeatedly do something even though they know that I don't like it. So from now on, "It's easier to ask for permission than it is for forgiveness because I can hold a grudge for a very long time." The end.

News to Me, News to Them?

I don't consider Canada and the US to be that far apart in terms of culture. Except that the US has a need for Ritalin, whereas Canada is good just drinking beer. So then, can I ask a silly question? Why is it when I flip the Google News front page between US Top Stories and Canadian Top Stories, they are extremely different. And I'm not talking about local news either. I've gotten used to looking for US news from many different sources to get the "whole story"; however, why is it that two countries so close, are so different in terms of the information that they recieve. Is Canada Blue and the US Red? Will we ever be purple?

*******WARNING! WAR OF THE WORLDS SPOILER!!!! *********** I giggled when Tim Robbins showed his face. I almost expected him to go on a rant about the environment. When I saw the red veins, I was reminded of a sci fi episode where this astronaut was stranded on a new planet w/ his monkey. There was this red vine growing all over that grew little red sausages. You could prepare them anyway except by boiling them. If you did that and ate them, you would pass out. Why was everyone in Boston clean? Why weren't their houses even tarnished? How come the boy was still dirty? Did they run out of handiwipes? When Tom Cruise had to sing to his daughter, I wanted to shout out: Sing that song that you and the other hotshots sang to that chick in that bar! Also, did anyone else notice that they used the farm from the original movie? Same broken fence and creek. Yet, I could not find a picture of it on Google. Dammit. They did some of the same lighting effects which was nice. And why did his character always have to look? It's like he thought it was fun, not a care in the world for his kids until he saw the one guy walk by carrying the little girl. Yes to Spongebob. No to Sailor Moon. Why do aliens always seem to attack Eastern Europe. I know it's Steven Spielberg. But...did he really have to use the E.T. logo at the end? We just watched an hour and a half of E.T. kicking our asses. Still surprised that the army guys didn't just open fire at the one dying alien in the ship. The End.

With 101 participants blogging for organizations like RAINN, Save the Tigers and the Human Rights Campaign, together they just doubled the goal, ending the event with an astounding $20,099 having been raised. Users visited each other on the mandatory webring and contributed buttons to a button gallery on the website. It was in this year that Cat first started what later came to be known as Hot Spots, special group or themed projects which would take place during the event (it was called a "Viewer's Guide" in the first year); it was also the first year we were offered forum space by James at Nine2000 - we would keep forums there for the following two years. With all of the donor information being updated by Cat and Cat alone the first year of the event and knowing it would grow, she made the decision to expand the team and have a more automated system when the 'thon (as it is popularly referred to) returned the next year. On July 27th, 212 participants came together to raise $58,446 for charities. Truly a year of growth for the 'thon, it was also during this year that the webcam portal was added, the term "Hot Spot" came to be used for themed events during the Blogathon, and awards were first given out. Good Times

Yay! Good times were had. Saw friends tonight. Stayed out talking past bedtime. For me, because I am lame. Joy bought me soap, that I wanted to eat. I left it in my car for an hour, and now my car smells of that soap and I WANT TO EAT MY CAR! And I also went out on an unexpected date! It was great! Even though it was with a sixteen year old girl. It was still nifty! Especially since we have the same phone. Meanwhile, I also got some frozen custard for me and my husband. Yay for frozen treats!!! I just realized that gizmo's wheel makes noise when he is in it. How cute is that?

Stop Ladies! Pray....

A man!!!! One of my fondest memories when I was younger was watching The Pirates of Penzance. And if I felt like it, right after I would watch The Pirate Movie with Kristy McNichol. Kevin Kline ROCKS! as the pirate king in PoP!!! I still know all of the lyrics. In fact, a friend of mine made me a cd of most of the songs. I can't find the soundtrack anywhere, although I hear that they made a record of it. Yes, I still have a record player. How else could I listen to the Thoroughly Modern Millie soundtrack? Although it is currently in storage. Speaking of which, at work lately anytime I'm in the elevator by myself I am compeled to dance in it and tend to think that it won't work unless I do. I did manage to get most of the songs from the Pirate Movie off of Napster before you had to pay. Oye. Now I really want to burst into song!!!

Haven't I already done this? Oh well, here is 100 Things about me. Just because I am in a very giving mood today. 1. I can touch my tongue to my nose. 2. I have pierced ears. 3. Most birthdays in my family are on holidays. 4. I am an only child. 5. Therefore quite selfish and jealous. 6. Yes, I crave attention too. 7. But that doesn’t mean I don’t give back. 8. I have done over 100 hours of volunteer work. 9. Yes, I let stuff get to my head. 10. A friend told me that with me, everything is either “feast or famine.” 11. I tend to agree. 12. The middle path seems to elude me. 13. However I hope to start doing yoga soon. 14. If anything, then it will help my posture. 15. I need to eat better. 16. But it’s really hard when I crave Italian and Mexican food at all hours of the day. 17. “Are you hungry?” Is a question that you never have to ask me. 18. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best tv show ever. 19. Northern Exposure, Charmed, Family Guy, Joan of Arcadia, and My So-Called life are good too. 20. I am a role-player. 21. Story Time

Story, just because I remembered it and someone mentioned bonfires: ...a friend of mine kept trying to get the wet wood for a bonfire going. kept pouring gasoline on it. the gasoline went straight down. soaked in the grass. so, the 5th time that he tried to light it to keep it going, it caught on the grass. It was the coolest 10 foot radius fire ball i've ever seen. it was also the first time that day he didn't tell us all to move away from the fire. thankfully, only one person got a little singed.

Mmmmmm...the week has officially started. As of last night. Yay!!!
I believe tonight G and I will be going out to dinner. And I have a dress all picked out. It was actually my 'spare' wedding dress. A chinese wedding dress that I found in Eureka Springs. WITH A DISCOUNT!!! Actually, it was one of the first times that the sales lady said, I'm going to give you another discount just b/c it fits so well, you must have it!!! Yay. Now...it's been over a year since I bought it. Wow. And yet, I cannot think of a better occasion to wear it!
Oh yeah, and tonight we will take a bite each out of the cake in the freezer that has been taking up precious space. Hey! I could fit a entire pint of Chocolate Chocolate Chip ice cream in there! Oh well...last night I cleaned. I even cleaned the office! I can now shut the closet door in the office, it is amazing!!! Maybe I'll even get to sew sometime this week! Wheeeeee!!!

So, last weekend was Dragon Crest. And it was HOTT!!! I did remember to bring a cd player and my Buffy soundtrack. I actually listened to it all the way thru twice and sang it out loud for everyone to hear. Before noon. When most had stayed up til dawn fighting. I even sang and dance while practising on the vile balance beams. For about three events in a row I seemed to die while going on the balance beams. This time, I didn't have to. Yay!

And now this weekend...I believe I am going to see a friend of a friend's band Friday night. Saturday is a friend's wedding reception (she got married in Hawaii a week ago). And then later that night is a friend's birthday party. Sunday? Hmm...possibly sleep or possibly slip up to a certain restaurant. I have no idea. I do know however that my husband requested "us time" this week. Yay for us time!!! However, I would like to point out to the person that knocked on our door last night around 9pm, KNOCK IT OFF!!! No more of that for the rest of the week? Okay? You spoil the mood. Who was that anyway? You didn't even stick around when we answered it? What's up with that, yo? Hopefully tonight we will be able to hide away. Mmmmm...a yummy dinner. But where? I'm holding out for italian. As I told my husband, I *must have* tiramisu at some point this week!

Yay! I didn't have to stay up all weekend long! Woohoooooooie! It was a freaky weekend too! We got a lot accomplished, then we got a whole bunch of other weird stuff happened that will prevent us from getting more stuff done. And then ya know what happened? Fighting! Between people!!! And there was crying! And disturbing feelings between people! What the heck??? So so tired today. But my dad enjoyed the candy I sent to him. Yay!

All I want to do is eat yummy hot pizza on the couch, watch buffy, then eat ice cream with my husband while we watch some action flick. Is that too much too ask? Guess so. Tuesday is our one-year anniversary. We are going to try and go out to eat next weekend. So far both nights are taken, so I'm hoping for lunch. Wish me luck. This weekend I'm supposed to stay up all night both Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, I have worked all day today, got woken up last night from the storm. No what the best part of all this is? Next week is "the" week. I stocked up on meds last night...now if I can just get more chocolate on Monday, i should be fine. The weird part is, it will mean that I have been at my job for about a month. When did that happen? Can I get an "oy ve!"

Already I am up to trick chapter 4 and am a natural and have unlocked the first racing board. Didn't realize it was a racing board until I couldn't really do tricks on it. I still love some of the trick names though. Melancholy Rodeo Fakie. Heh. Either way, Zoe is still my favorite. I even unlocked the little Japanese fangirl looking character, Keori, and still have not played her. Unlocked Marisol too. Still don't like Elise. Mac is cool. I can do almost an entire run with "Tricky" playing, I feel accomplished.

What Have I Done?

I have no idea what I did, but it obviously involved my back. As of Sunday morning the small of my back was in pain and made it hard for me to move. Now, I am a "jerker." For example if I am startled or tickled, I jerk. To jerk, is to writhe in pain for two minutes afterward!!! No wiggling for me. At least, in that area. WTF? The only thing that I can think I did was lie on my tummy for about half an hour late Saturday night/Sunday morning while I tried to stay awake during the Munchkin game. I was so close to winning that game. But, as with all Munchkin games, the leader must DIE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHH!!! One day I shall win Munchkin. And it might not happen until I finally get my own game. Grrr. Oh, the best part was when my husband drew the card that Randy made from Something Positive. I was proud of him for running away. Otherwise, fun was had by all, although there really was no drinking. Joy had a drink. Yeah...I guess next time we might do the thing where we soak a watermelon overnight in everclear. That should rock our socks off. Sunday I had fun playing Trivial Pursuit and singing karaoke against Evil Emily. I couldn't believe we tied in the end. Although the best part by far was the cheat code for the zombie audience. Imagine singing "Unchained Melody" to a crowd of army-shirt-and-cowboy-hat-wearing-zombies chanting "Brains! Brains!" while you sing. Yeah, I couldn't keep a straight face either. I also got to see Sue and Emily. Oh!!! and I finally got to meet the third sister.... She was a lot nicer than what everyone had been telling me. My husband also sprained his foot this weekend working outside. Just an extra excuse to cuddle ;)

Welcome to my sanctuary. It has been a nice day so far, filled with sprinkles of sugar. This weekend will be filled with waxing of the hands, music drifting throughout the rooms as clothes are cleaned and put away. Puffs of cleaner floating up from the floor as the vaccuum sucks up any missed pieces of popcorn. I will watch more of the third season of Buffy. What happens when Willow & Xander are caught? Will Spike get a life of his own and stop being so mooney over Dru? I still need to plan something for my one year anniversary this month. Two possible themes are recommended: paper or clocks. We need a new alarm clock. And I am still trying to find that autographed copy of the first Wheel of Time series book. Oye.
Either way, a sweet weekend will be had. Even if we must od on sugar. Saturday night will be an attempt at getting my husband drunk w/ a friend of ours. His metabolism is so fast, I fear the only was we will be able to do it is by making him take shots of everclear. Yay!

Strange Quacks: News

Two mornings in a row I have been greeted by ducks directly outside of my front door. It's nice being escorted to your car by men with bills. Sunday I had a scare when my mom told me about my father. On Wednesday he went down to his boat. Lowered it into the water, walked around to get in, slipped and fell into the water, and rolled under neath the boat. No one saw him. Luckily he was conscious, pulled himself out of the water, and only got a huge lump on his calf. Last night my husband and I fell asleep watching ALIEN. It's a great movie, but it's hard keeping the peepers open when we've both had a long week and the bed is so nice and comfy. We woke up around 10:30. I thought everything was fine until I started to move around. Next thing I know, I break out in a sweat and my stomach is upset. First thing I think about is food poisoning. I get up to turn the air conditioning on and realize I'm dizzy. My husband convinced me to take a shower to cool off, I only made it to the couch where I collapsed and made a nice pool of sweat in the outline of a Col. After ten minutes I manage to get up and sit under cool water. After which I had a monster craving for ice cream. Lucky for me there were still two tubs. By midnight I was asleep. Today I am dressing Italian. Red suede skirt. White hippie type top. I accesorize well w/ my carpal tunnel gloves. Not so random link: Manticore Zoo.

Someone recently asked me about my faith. What is it? What was it? Where is it now? All I can say is this: Ever since I was little, I can remember two constant thoughts that I had about God. The first was that God exists. And the second was something of a cave theory. That, if I (or anyone) were born and raised in a cave, all by themselves. Would they be sent to hell because they were not worshipping the "right" God? Answer: no. Therefore, there is no true religion. Those are two things that I have always felt and I don't see them changing any time soon.

That, and spandex should not be worn by just anyone.

Good Omens

Good Omens is a wonderful novel by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett. This is the first book that I have ever read by the duo (together and separate). I am now highly motivated to listen to Queen, oh, and get the rest of their books.
