Shimmy Fest 2007 Sum Up!

Impressions from others:

• Direct quote from Glenn: "You have a bird in your hair."
• Direct quote from the in-laws: "We thought you were gonna pop out!"

Answers to those impressions:

• Yes. I did have a bird in my hair.
• No. The girls stayed put.

Regrets:

• I should have practised putting on my inch long gold eyelashes so that I could have worn them for the show.
• I kinda wish I did put a bit of white blotches on my left shoulder...you know, for the effect.
• I bought that top (and a matching skirt) earlier that day from Miss Judy.

Tips 'n Stuff:

• When your knee hurts - sit your @$$ down!
• I got several compliments on the bird in my hair.
• Family and friends did not recognize me.
• The lady who I bought the costume top from that day was afraid that it was going to fall off too.
• Someone in my group knew where I was by following the trail of feathers thru out the hotel.
• I never realize how crazy I look until I see a picture of myself. Gods...I look huge...so huge I could...I could...I COULD EAT THEIR BABIES!!!

On the other dancers:

• One girl made me feel many things (and I wasn't the only one): first, that I was happy to be a full figured woman; second, that if I had a brother and she was single I would have made an arranged marriage; third, if neither of us were married, and gay, then ...well...yeah. Like I said before, I wasn't the only one who felt that way - or made the mistake of telling her husband. :P
• After watching Miss Kitty Sparkle dance on top of TWO layers of goblets, and ONE layer of shot glasses, I went up to her and said "That was the most f!cking, amazing thing I have seen in my entire life!" She replied quite nicely and sincerely "Oh, why thank you!" Damn, I can be so utterly elegant.
• I learned that it is a good thing to practise your shimmies. No matter what level you are.

Costumes/Songs I'm considering for the next time:
• Slave Leia,
• Thriller,
• Eskimo - you know, to mix it up.

Ooh! Ooh!

• Realizing that you've never laughed so hard at a tv show before in your life and it's all because they remind you of your family.
• Hearing "That's so cute!" followed directly by "Suck it in!" more times than I can count.
• Howl has forsaken mewing us awake in the morning for a buzzard sounding "Eh!" and still had a wet face while he did it.
• Sophie could not get enough loving and cuddling in yesterday afternoon.
• Walking up the entire flight of stairs and BARELY GETTING WINDED! BOO YEAH!!!
• Thinking that I should wear a bird in my hair more often.

And then I said...

Every toilet time is an epiphany.

Nurse Sophie

Last night, I was having issues. Pepto Bismol type issues. And I'm all better now thanks to rest and water and the best nurse kitty ever. Sophie.

You might not believe this but she can tell within an instant when Glenn or I are sick. It hit me, then I went to the couch with a bottle of water. Immediately she poked her little head out from behind the window curtain. Then twinkle-toed her way over to me. She kept trying to get on my belly, which was NOT the place I wanted anyone touching. But she settled down next to me and started purring and head-butting. She finally made her way onto my belly, where she purred and stared at me. Soon enough, I was feeling better to go back to bed.

As soon as I settled down I felt her creep up and lay at my feet.

Halloween 2008?

Glenn's already got his costume for this year and wants me to dress up as one of the girls.

• tonight I get to organize TWO filing cabinets.

• and clean the house so that I will smell lemony fresh!
• I love to clean and organize, run from room to room, I'm like the Flash Gordan of cleaning - it's the key to my diet cokeness.

Heavy Head and Shoulders

• I have become involved with the horrible habit of thinking.
• Making a house a home.
• Hoping it truly was an imaginary bug my cat was chasing in the litter box last night.
• Shortened dark wool pants and flaming white socks over black buckle shoes just don't cut it.

Odder and Odder

Two things that happened to me today:

• an ant was crawling around on my forehead
• an...off...person walked by me fast, as soon as they got past my shoulder, he whipped around and blew a rasberry at me...I think I even heard him utter an unflattering word.

SUGAR!!!

Last night, I dreamed that I took a day off because I was kinda sick. But wandered all over town looking at stuff, and while I did that I had about four or five giant cokes with crushed ice (all at the same time) and they were DELICIOUS!!!

They Don't Believe Me

Yesterday it rained and rained. Perfect time to finish reading "Holy Cow" (see my review of the book here). Afterwards, I attempted to start up my sewing machine. Threading the machine isn't the problem so much as threading the bobbin. When I couldn't find the manual, I asked Glenn to help. (Yes, he is quite capable of threading a bobbin.) But we couldn't get the needle and bobbin to work together...so clearly this means I will be dancing naked at Shimmy Fest. ;) Other than that...I'm excited about the possibility of purchasing "The Great Ewok Adventure" on DVD. Oh yeah, and getting to the theatre when it's not crowded...maybe next week? When we saw "Die Hard" the other week, I heard a girl outside say, "This is the first time I've ever had to stand in line for tickets at a theatre in Arkansas."

*giggle* I painted all over my face to create a butterfly look. It was funny, but the other faeries gave me a weird look when I was doing it...I think I terrified a certain one when I asked her if she wanted me to do her makeup.

Advice for All
