  It's Hoppy!!!

I'm making my christmas wish lists. (Yes, I said Christmas and Lists.) And I realized that I have a lot more moody music than anything, which I think is a bit odd when you consider the kind of music that I really like to listen to. So...I need some Hoppy Music suggestions. Hoppy = happy music that you can hop, skip and twirl too. The best example that I can come up with is The White Stripes. So please, suggest, SUGGEST, whisper in my ear, send me a myspace page link. Please!

Currently on the list: Best of David Bowie, "Love Actually" soundtrack, The Donnas, The Beatles and U2.

BTW, I love the nod to the movie in this Buffy quote.

  Uber Disturbing!!!

I found this over at Pesky's:
Why the hubbub over a B-52 taking off from a B-52 base in Minot, North Dakota and subsequently landing at a B-52 base in Barksdale, Louisiana? That’s like getting excited if you see postal worker in uniform walking out of a post office. And how does someone watching a B-52 land identify the cruise missiles as nukes? It just does not make sense. So I called a old friend and retired B-52 pilot and asked him. What he told me offers one compelling case of circumstantial evidence. My buddy, let’s call him Jack D. Ripper, reminded me that the only times you put weapons on a plane is when they are on alert or if you are tasked to move the weapons to a specific site.

Then he told me something I had not heard before.

Barksdale Air Force Base is being used as a jumping off point for Middle East operations. Gee, why would we want cruise missile nukes at Barksdale Air Force Base. Can’t imagine we would need to use them in Iraq. Why would we want to preposition nuclear weapons at a base conducting Middle East operations?

His final point was to observe that someone on the inside obviously leaked the info that the planes were carrying nukes. A B-52 landing at Barksdale is a non-event. A B-52 landing with nukes. That is something else.

Now maybe there is an innocent explanation for this? I can’t think of one. What is certain is that the pilots of this plane did not just make a last minute decision to strap on some nukes and take them for a joy ride. We need some tough questions and clear answers. What the hell is going on? Did someone at Barksdale try to indirectly warn the American people that the Bush Administration is staging nukes for Iran? I don’t know, but it is a question worth asking.

  Howl Is Teh Crazy

banzai.jpg

Clearly they were peeking in my window last night and did a representation of what was going on. Little how was clearly on the kitty krack. He would be laying on the carpet, suddenly purr, spring up and race down the hall. Then, he would come in, stare at the wall just above his head, attempt to catch the imaginary bug, purr, and run off. This cycle continued all night until he finally collapsed in our bed. At one point he ended up on top of his two foot tall kitty tower and freaked out for the next five minutes on how to get down. (Apparently jumping off of a two foot tower is much scarier than jumping off of the four foot tower that he does every day.) Kitties. Meh.

Better Than a Giant Toothy Rabbit

I'm not sure what was going on with me yesterday. Possibly a sugar imbalance. Perhaps this quote from "Defending Your Life" describes it best.
Daniel Miller: Where were you? I'm just curious.
Bob Diamond: I'd tell you, but you wouldn't understand.
Daniel Miller: Don't treat me like a moron. Try me.
Bob Diamond: I was trapped near the inner circle of fault.
Daniel Miller: I don't understand.
Bob Diamond: I told you...
The link on yesterday's post has been fixed. That song is very much in my head. It has almost pushed out that one horrible, yet horribly funny, engrish song (track number one here since it was left off of the soundtrack) from "Lost in Translation" that was heard at Club Orange.

See? Getting my groove back.
I love wet umbrellas. I love it even more that I typed out forty poems that I wrote so many years ago into book form. Yes, I rolled my eyes more than once. Now the editing can begin! Sorry, no samples yet. Although, I'm hoping that this weekend will bring a couple more postcards so that I can take pictures of them and post here. I got a beautiful watercolor last night.
That reminds me...Halloween is approaching! I'm almost considering dressing up as a giant rabbit. Anyone want to take a gander as to why? (Clue: BTVS)
Buffy Quote:
Buffy: I didn't say I'd never slay another vampire. It's not like I have all these fluffy bunny feelings for them, I'm just not gonna get way extracurricular with it.

This is it! I can feel it! Fall is finally coming in! (This is what happens when it starts raining at night and continues thru the morning - Happy Col!) Maybe by tonight or tomorrow we can open up the windows in the house and let it BREATHE! (Why is it just spring cleaning that matters and not seasonal cleaning? Every season needs it's own clean start!) I got so excited last night checking out all of the new Halloween ornaments that were coming out. So excited I almost decided right then and there to only ask for Halloween/Thanksgiving/Fall Harvest decorations for Christmas. What? I'm serious. Oooh...or maybe I can become a Holiday Fairy for Halloween. You know, where a mixture of every type of holiday clothing that I can find, then carry around a pet groundhog for luck. ;)

  On the Adorability of Howl

The blow up mattress was rolled up and standing in the corner of the room as of 11am. By 11:30am it had slid and fell on the floor in an s-shape. Howl walks into the room and stops. His ears, eyes and whiskers focus intently on the black rubbery form in the corner of the room. He leans as close to is as possible without moving his backlegs. At one point...someone...picked up Howl and put him on top of the shape. Like a spring, Howl bounced from the object to the other side of the room. Where he continued to give all of his intention to this intruder. At one point, someone else puts him on top of his tent tower so that he can survey the mattress from on high. But, when he jumps off, his tower falls ONTO THE MATTRESS!!! SOMEONE SAVE HIS TOWER!!!

Finally, the mattress is picked up and put away in the closet. Howl sees this but does not believe it is gone. He continues to check out that spot for the next hour. Then, he starts asking for sympathy. He comes in and mews, asking for comfort. I pick him up and put him under the covers, where he sulks, then eventually comes to the top for a long nap. By that afternoon, his tent tower has taken the spot of the mattress, and he is still wary that it might have snuck into the lower platform. Like a good little soldier, he keeps a look out for the rest of the night before going back on it.

  Shimmy Fest 2007 Sum Up!

NOTE: The following pictures were taken by Miss Lena, or with her camera.
Impressions from others:
  • Direct quote from Glenn: "You have a bird in your hair."
  • Direct quote from the in-laws: "We thought you were gonna pop out!"

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Answers to those impressions:
  • Yes. I did have a bird in my hair.
  • No. The girls stayed put.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Regrets:
  • I should have practised putting on my inch long gold eyelashes so that I could have worn them for the show.
  • I kinda wish I did put a bit of white blotches on my left shoulder...you know, for the effect.
  • I bought that top (and a matching skirt) earlier that day from Miss Judy.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Tips 'n Stuff:
  • When your knee hurts - sit your @$$ down!
  • I got several compliments on the bird in my hair.
  • Family and friends did not recognize me.
  • The lady who I bought the costume top from that day was afraid that it was going to fall off too.
  • Someone in my group knew where I was by following the trail of feathers thru out the hotel.
  • I never realize how crazy I look until I see a picture of myself. Gods...I look huge...so huge I could...I could...I COULD EAT THEIR BABIES!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
On the other dancers:
  • One girl made me feel many things (and I wasn't the only one): first, that I was happy to be a full figured woman; second, that if I had a brother and she was single I would have made an arranged marriage; third, if neither of us were married, and gay, then ...well...yeah. Like I said before, I wasn't the only one who felt that way - or made the mistake of telling her husband. :P
  • After watching Miss Kitty Sparkle dance on top of TWO layers of goblets, and ONE layer of shot glasses, I went up to her and said "That was the most f!cking, amazing thing I have seen in my entire life!" She replied quite nicely and sincerely "Oh, why thank you!" Damn, I can be so utterly elegant.
  • I learned that it is a good thing to practise your shimmies. No matter what level you are.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Costumes/Songs I'm considering for the next time:
  • Slave Leia,
  • Thriller,
  • Eskimo - you know, to mix it up.

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

  Ooh! Ooh!

  • Realizing that you've never laughed so hard at a tv show before in your life and it's all because they remind you of your family.
  • Hearing "That's so cute!" followed directly by "Suck it in!" more times than I can count.
  • Howl has forsaken mewing us awake in the morning for a buzzard sounding "Eh!" and still had a wet face while he did it.
  • Sophie could not get enough loving and cuddling in yesterday afternoon.
  • Walking up the entire flight of stairs and BARELY GETTING WINDED! BOO YEAH!!!
  • Thinking that I should wear a bird in my hair more often.

Last night, I was having issues. Pepto Bismol type issues. And I'm all better now thanks to rest and water and the best nurse kitty ever. Sophie.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

You might not believe this but she can tell within an instant when Glenn or I are sick. It hit me, then I went to the couch with a bottle of water. Immediately she poked her little head out from behind the window curtain. Then twinkle-toed her way over to me. She kept trying to get on my belly, which was NOT the place I wanted anyone touching. But she settled down next to me and started purring and head-butting. She finally made her way onto my belly, where she purred and stared at me. Soon enough, I was feeling better to go back to bed.

As soon as I settled down I felt her creep up and lay at my feet.

  Odder and Odder

Two things that happened to me today:
  • an ant was crawling around on my forehead
  • an...off...person walked by me fast, as soon as they got past my shoulder, he whipped around and blew a rasberry at me...I think I even heard him utter an unflattering word.

  SUGAR!!!

Last night, I dreamed that I took a day off because I was kinda sick. But wandered all over town looking at stuff, and while I did that I had about four or five giant cokes with crushed ice (all at the same time) and they were DELICIOUS!!!

  They Don't Believe Me

Yesterday it rained and rained. Perfect time to finish reading "Holy Cow" (see my review of the book here). Afterwards, I attempted to start up my sewing machine. Threading the machine isn't the problem so much as threading the bobbin. When I couldn't find the manual, I asked Glenn to help. (Yes, he is quite capable of threading a bobbin.) But we couldn't get the needle and bobbin to work together...so clearly this means I will be dancing naked at Shimmy Fest. ;) Other than that...I'm excited about the possibility of purchasing "The Great Ewok Adventure" on DVD. Oh yeah, and getting to the theatre when it's not crowded...maybe next week? When we saw "Die Hard" the other week, I heard a girl outside say, "This is the first time I've ever had to stand in line for tickets at a theatre in Arkansas."
*giggle*

  Painted Face and Glitter

*giggle* I painted all over my face to create a butterfly look. It was funny, but the other faeries gave me a weird look when I was doing it...I think I terrified a certain one when I asked her if she wanted me to do her makeup.

  Come Away With Me

There is a quiet place...where the fair go to play...all are beautiful and serene...until the evil come to stay!

Fly away!

Yesterday morning a bunch of girlies got together and dressed up as fairies. My friend Lena did an amazing job tromping thru the woods after us! You can find more of her wonderful photos here!

  Advice for All

Arms up and out, half bent, hands just above head level, facing your peeps waving in a circular fashion. Subtly sway to the left, then to the right. Keep with it, back and forth. Don't stop waving. Now mix in a gentle bob, up and down... That's right, Colleen, good...
Now add a little, "Whoo-hooooo, Whoo-hoooo....." as you sway.
Perfect.
Just 5 seconds of this happy dance, just 5 seconds, even when feeling blue, will always make you smile. Your smile will lift your spirits. Your spirits will summon ancient friends. And your friends will raise you higher into the light.
Works every time.
This has been a public service announcement brought to you by.... The Universe

  Yippie-ky-ai-aye!

For most people, Chuck Norris does it for them. Not me. I'm a Bruce Willis girl. He cracks me up, but the best part is that his characters are always tangible; there's that part you can always connect with. Hudson Hawk, Death Becomes Her, The Fifth Element, The Jackal, The Whole Nine Yards, Sin City...he's been great in all of them whether he's a cop or a crook. (In fact, I think if they did a remake of "Thief" they wouldn't know which side to put him on.) And last night I saw "Live Free or Die Hard" and guess what? It was great. Below are spoilers, not too in depth, but enough if you hate to hear anything about the movie beforehand.

SPOILERS:
PROS: Bruce Willis got bloody really early in the movie - when it happened I almost said out loud "But...that's not supposed to happen until the last scene!" Did this mean the end for John McClane?
The movie didn't hinge on that 'one thing' that so many other movies love to pull out during the climax. (E.g. some trifle fact in the beginning of the movie is the ace in the hero's pocket at the end of the movie when at any other time he would have lost the game.)
Kevin Smith playing...well...Kevin Smith. I bet he crapped his pants working with Bruce Willis. I know I would. (Just like in that scene in Ocean's Twelve...what? You forgot Bruce Willis was in Ocean's Twelve? Go! Watch it now!) I'm a bit surprised that, in the end, Kevin Smith didn't ask John McClane "Is she hot?"
I giggled every time someone said "Armageddon" to Bruce Willis - definitely something to drink to. By the third time I expected him to roll his eyes and then start singing "On a Jet Plane". Because, if Armageddon were to happen, then who would you rather have getting $h!t done than Bruce Willis?
Amazing stunts. Typically today's stunts are about the bigger and better explosion, whether it's a train, car or baby carriage, expect a big boom. In Live Free or Die Hard, there were plenty of places where they could have put huge, forced explosions, but didn't. Thank gods! Be sure to check out the scope of the 'traffic' stunts near the beginning of the movie.
McClane's daughter TOTALLY could have kicked the villian's @$$.
Two words: Senior Detective.

CONS: I didn't like the main villian. Mostly because he suffered from WLB (Whiny Little B!tch) Syndrome. I wanted to hand him some tissues thru out the movie. And policemen's daughters don't just ask to see the badge, they call in the damn badge number!
Apparently all of the tech/hacker stuff was wrong.
Not as much interaction with local workers like there was in Die Hard: With a Vengeance. Like, remember the aquaduct scene?
The techie finally fires a gun...AND HE ONLY USED ONE HAND! I'm pretty sure he closed his eyes too.
I'm surprised he didn't kick that pilot.
For a second, the actress playing the daughter looked like Jena Malone. But it wasn't.
Seeing McClane lost in all of the technological mumbo-jumbo. Like the expression 'don't bring a knife to a gun fight'...well...don't bring an old, toughened cop to a 01101110 01100101 01110010 01100100 00100000 01101111 01100110 01100110.

*COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THE MOVIE: This song is stuck in my head.

  Things I've Spied

Something colorful to add..
I think if I lived near the water all day, I would do nothing else but stare at it. It would take me a month to fly a kite, or read, or eat clam chowder.I think if I lived near the water all day, I would do nothing else but stare at it. It would take me a month to fly a kite, or read, or eat clam chowder. I think if I lived near the water all day, I would do nothing else but stare at it. It would take me a month to fly a kite, or read, or eat clam chowder. Just give me an adirondeck chair and I'm home.
Have fun with architecture.

I totally agree. (From http://www.postsecret.com/)

Nutella has made my mornings sweeter, and fools me into thinking I'm being healthy.
